WordPress kindly provided each WP blogger with a 2012 Year in Blogging Report,
showing details of traffic, statistics, views, visitor numbers etc etc.
It made interesting reading for us, especially the search terms typed into search engines, which brought visitors to our Blog
Our Adventure in Croatia.
We thought our Blog would be of interest to people travelling to Croatia, especially to buy property and holiday homes, so we were expecting that the top search keywords would be something like
“buy property in Croatia“, “holiday home” or “moving to Croatia“.
We were mistaken.
It is surprising to see the search items which brought people to our blog.
AT NUMBER FOUR (4)
Came the search keyword POLICEMAN
as in our post The Policeman, or how things get done “the Croatian way“
Were those visitors looking for a policeman in Croatia? or maybe a policeman outfit for a fancy-dress party, or some more outrageous encounter…?
Or where they looking for blogs written by policemen?
who knows…
AT NUMBER THREE (3)
came the search for salsa dancing or salsa silhouette, as in our post
1 simple good reason to change my Gravatar
Although we love dancing salsa, our Blog has nothing to do with salsa dancing… sorry to disappoint you, if you were looking for some magical musical evening entertainment..
AT NUMBER TWO (2)
came the search keyword FOCACCIA, as in our post
Cold Weather? don’t worry, bake some focaccia
This was rather surprising, as ours is not a cookery blog, and we’ve only got a few posts with recipes. But any focaccia lovers are welcome to read our Adventures!
BUT TOP AT NUMBER ONE (1)
and we think best of all, was the search for the keywords KARATE and KARATE PICTURES
as in our post
The Croatian “Karate Dentist” Strikes Back
On 16th December 2012, this post was viewed 75 times.
75 times!!!???? who was it?
come on, admit it, was it YOU?
Why would anybody searching for KARATE, click 75 times in one single day on our post The Croatian “Karate Dentist” strikes back?
Did they fall asleep at the keyboard and kept on hitting the return key with their nose, as they were snoring?
If you’ve got any ideas about this “karate” keyword search, share with us your funniest suggestions in the comment box below and make us laugh…

Hilarious. Your post made me go back and read my search terms. Nothing weird in the summary. Whew!
thanks Colleen for stopping by and your comment! if you didn’t find any weird search terms, there must be something attracting weird searches to our blog! beats me! I have no idea….
re: karate dentist….
Hello my friends: 1- the fear of the dentistry apparently is atavistic, going back into the night of time… it is accentuated I think by the fact that it is an invasive affair … the darn dentist goes inside of us… near where we breathe…
2- karate has a certain “cachet” related to putting an adversary out with just a chop… if you do not know karate in defense it is simply very frightening
3- add dentist + karate and the “fright attraction” is irresistible.
People apparently love to get safely scared. The marriage of karate with dentist is very attractive to search engines and people…
PS: has your dear dentist read your post…?
RE: WP stats:
I noticed on my stats that sometimes there are more views than visitors – views in the 70s-80s and visitors in the 30s… I have not investigated with WP about this; but what do 30 visitors do if they are not “viewing” anything ? are they blind? and I can hardly believe that visitors come back 2 times or more ! some mystery must exist in everybody’s life, I am leaving this one alone…
thank you Vera for this insight into the cumulative scare-effect of “dentist” and “karate” …. hadn’t thought of that.
I think your stats are explained like this. If I visit your blog I might read 3 or 4 posts (your older ones) so you would get 5 views from 1 visitor. So those 30 visitors have viewed 70-80 posts in total. Each visitor views more than one post. I think this is how it works, but what do I know?? buonasera, freddo gelido a Londra…
Ok I admit it! It was the dentist post that had me following your blog!
Phew!!!! glad to hear that!!! I thought it was a STALKER!
And in your Live Traffic Feed, I’m thrilled to see me from little old & rainy Plymouth! How fab is that!
Yes, the dentist post was certainly entertaining and an inspiration to read more!! I’m off now to check our search terms…..!!!
great, let us know what interesting search terms you find in your blog!
Not sure why karate ranked so high…but clearly I will have to look! (curiosity and all!)
thanks Anita Mac for stopping by…. have you looked at the search words in your blog and found any “strange” or unusual ones like our “karate” ? …
